Fire Department

Perry Township is located on the west side of Evansville in western Vanderburgh County. The Township is surrounded on 3 sides by the winding 20 miles of Ohio River shoreline. Established in 1959, this volunteer department includes 60 personnel and 12 apparatus that respond from 3 stations. PTFD provides Fire, Rescue, Water Rescue and Medical First-Response protection to the residents of Perry and Union Townships. Their area includes 55 square miles and 25,400 residents including the University of Southern Indiana (USI).

For some of our members, the day started with a good workout and ended with a long walk in full gear. For others, it was an afternoon spent passing their annual swim test for the water rescue team. Some were busy planning our 2026 CPR classes to help teach life-saving skills to our community, while others were carrying out weekly equipment checks to make sure everything is ready to go.
