2025 Brings Historic Start

Perry Township Fire Department Off to a Record-Breaking Start in 2025

2025 is shaping up to be one of the busiest—and most impactful—years in Perry Township Fire Department history. In just the first three months of the year, we’ve already responded to 413 emergency calls, putting us on pace to exceed last year’s record-setting 1,300 runs in 2024.  To put it in perspective of our run growth, in 2015 the first 3 months totaled 227.

But it’s not just about the numbers—our team has been working harder and smarter than ever.

Strengthening Our Response with Specialized Training
In addition to our ongoing fire and EMS training, we’ve welcomed experts from Albion Fellows Bacon Center and Southwestern Behavioral Health to lead classes on handling mental health emergencies and domestic violence calls. These are tough runs that require empathy, awareness, and preparation—and our members are stepping up to meet the challenge.

Learning from the Best at FDIC 2025
This year, firefighters Steve Gossman, Gary Barr, and Chris Conley represented our department at the FDIC International Conference in Indianapolis along with 37,000 firefighters from around the world. There, they received training on emerging threats like electric vehicle fires and elevator rescues, and even connected with instructors from Australia and Canada who are joining forces with us on future programs to improve firefighter safety and health.

Rising to Meet the Floods
When floodwaters rose across our region, our Water Rescue Team didn’t just respond—they grew. With the addition of new members and a generous donation from Water Feather, we’ve added a small watercraft to our fleet and put it to use training directly in the real-world flood conditions. These experiences have made our team even more ready to respond when seconds matter.

Expanding Our Training Division
As a department, we’ve doubled down on what matters most—preparation and prevention. Our Training Division has grown to become one of the largest instructor groups in the region, offering fire, EMS, and water rescue education to keep our members sharp and ready for anything.
